It’s very important to keep your baby engaged with something as they soon get bored. By the time your baby reaches the age of 6 months, play gyms and bouncers act as a waste. Also few games help in their growth and development. Let’s talk about a few of them.
The Shadow Game:
One of the best bed time games it is. With only the night lamp on, try making shadows on the wall with your hands and show them to your baby. It is very easy to create shadows of birds and fishes. Kids love these mysterious things and this game can also help you to calm them to sleep.
Water Splash:
Every day before my baby takes bath, I let him play this game for five minutes. Give support of your hand to let him stand near the bucket. You will realise that each day the amount of water splash and fun is increasing.
Happy:
This is mine and my baby’s favourite. It’s a rhyme which is very much known to all. If you are happy and you know it clap your hands. You can change the activities to blink your eyes, touch your cheeks to make it interesting. Similarly pick up rhymes which can engage your baby more like Pop goes the weasel or Wheels on the bus.
Aeroplane:
This game is sure to get giggles out from your little one. You need to sit with your knees bend. Place your baby’s tummy against your shin. Slowly lie down holding your baby. Lift your shin parallel to the floor shouting “Aeroplane”. You can move your legs forward and backward to increase the fun. It’s going to improve your fitness level too.
The Sound Game:
This is the tan tan game for my baby. Sit on the ground with your baby placed up between your legs for support. Place a steel plate and spoon in front. Give a demo on how to tap the plate with spoon. You can also make drumsticks by using pencil instead of spoon. But yes, be prepared for the noisy environment!!
Peek a Boo:
A very famous one, the Taaa game. Just you need to hide behind a obstacle and keep coming back with a particular sound. You can add on the fun by playing it with baby’s favourite toy or reappearing with different funny faces in front of him.
Grab It:
My baby loves this one. I have a 24 pins hanger which I usually use to dry his nappy. Place the hanger where he can reach the things on the hanger. Hang 4-5 handkerchiefs and you can make your baby sit on your lap and let your legs move to and fro to let the baby catch the hanky. Once done let him catch the other one. My boy has mastered this now and he loves to play that.
i would love to hear from you all about the games that you play with your little one..Do mention them in the form of comments 🙂
